Years 2 and 3 (Honey Bee Class)

Autumn 2 Review

What an amazing half term we have had! Our main focus has been The Great Fire of London which involved lots of History, Art and even writing all about what we have learnt! We explored the cause, how people in London put out the fire and the events of what happened. We also learnt about London in 1666 and how much it has changed today. We enjoyed designing our own houses and then having to put them out when a fire started!!

During our English learning, we used similes, metaphors, and expanded noun phrases to create our own shape poems all about fire. We then looked at writing in the past tense, adverbs and writing about feelings when writing our own diaries. We worked very hard on our diaries with a big focus on spelling and handwriting. We published them and some of our work made it onto our writing display in the school hall!

Maths has been very busy with us working on our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills. Year 2 have been working on numbers to 100, drawing sticks and dots and utilising number lines to help us while Year 3 have been learning how to use the column method. We then moved on to different ways we can multiply and divide while continuing our weekly TTRockstars challenges!

We have also been designing our own clay tiles during our Art sessions, learning how inputs and outputs work and all about E-safety in computing and learning about what it is like to follow God during RE learning. We really enjoyed being able to experiment with clay and use different techniques to mould and shape it before creating out own rooftop tiles. During PSHE, we had a focus on Anti-Bullying week and why it is important to treat everyone the same and that being unique is one of the best things we can be!

Finally, Christmas came and boy what is it exciting! We created cards, enjoyed breakfast with Santa and Christmas jumper day! We were even visited by a cheeky elf and his husky friend Arka. It was rounded off with a video from Santa to tell us all we were on the good list! How cool is that! We have had so much fun but now it is time to unwind, spend time with our family and enjoy the Christmas break. See you all in 2026!
