Children in years Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 (Key Stage 1) are entitled to received Free School Meals under the government scheme.  Children in Key stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) may still have a meal provided by the kitchen.   The price of school meals for these children is now £2.53 per day.  School meals should be paid for in advance via the Reach More Parents ('MET') app.  If you are in receipt of benefits you may be entitled to claim free meals for your child.  If you require any further information please contact the school office.

Healthy eating

We all want to help our children stay healthy and happy as they grow up. Here at Ab Kettleby Primary School we want to help children lead a healthy lifestyle by offering healthy food choices at lunchtime. You can find out much more about healthy eating at the Children’s Food Trust website.

Free School Meals (FSM)

If you are in receipt of Income Support or Jobseeker’s Allowance you may be entitled to apply for Free School Meals (FSM) for your child.  Please follow the link to go directly to Leicestershire County Council website and complete the Free School Meals application form. This process can be completed at any time as family circumstances change.

Please note that we are unable to provide your child with a free school meal until we have received written confirmation from the Local Authority that your application has been approved.

Packed lunches

School meals are moving towards a healthy menu with lots of fresh vegetables and interesting meals. We would like to see all the children eating healthily. Therefore, our request to parents providing packed lunches is to avoid crisps and chocolates.

We are also a 'NUT FREE' school as we have children with serious allergies  Please do not send any items containing nuts in your child's packed lunch.  This includes Nutella chocolate spread.

School Milk

Each pupil that registers with Cool Milk will receive a carton of semi-skimmed milk everyday, which is delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom.  Their school milk will not only provide them with essential nutrients, but as it is rehydrating and energy boosting it also bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch to help children stay focused.
